7-Day Itinerary for Traveling in Bhutan
Day 1: Arrival in Paro
- Arrive at Paro International Airport
- Meet your guide and driver, who will escort you throughout your journey
- Visit the Paro Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), a sacred site of Buddhism perched on a cliff
- Explore the Drukgyel Dzong, a ruined fortress built in 1649 to commemorate the victory over the Tibetans
- Enjoy traditional Bhutanese dinner and relax at your hotel
Day 2: Paro
- Visit the National Museum of Bhutan, which showcases the history, art, and culture of the country
- Explore the Paro Dzong (Fortress), a historic citadel that serves as the administrative headquarters for the district
- Walk through the picturesque Paro valley, taking in the scenic views of rice fields and traditional villages
- Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant
Day 3: Paro to Thimphu
- Drive to Thimphu, the capital city (approximately 2 hours)
- Visit the Buddha Dordenma Statue, a massive statue overlooking the valley
- Explore the Memorial Chorten, a stupa built in memory of the third King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck

Day 4: Thimphu

- Visit the Punakha Dzong (Fortress), a historic citadel that serves as the administrative headquarters for the district
- Explore the Chimi Lhakhang Temple, also known as the “Temple of Fertility”, which is dedicated to the god of fertility and prosperity
Day 6: Punakha
- Visit the Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, a magnificent temple built in 1997
- Explore the Dochula Pass, where you can see the stunning views of the Himalayas
- Return to Thimphu for your final night
Day 7: Departure from Paro
- Drive back to Paro (approximately 2 hours)
