Laos-6-day-itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Vientiane
- Arrival: Arrive at Wattay International Airport
- Visa Requirements: Citizens of many countries can obtain a visa on arrival (VOA) for $30-$40, while others need to apply for an e-visa or a pre-arranged visa. Check with the Lao Embassy in your home country for requirements.
- Transportation: From the airport, take a taxi (approx. 10,000 Kip/ $1 USD) to your hotel
- Places to Go: Visit the Phra That Luang temple complex and the COPE Visitor Centre to learn about Lao history and the struggles of UXO victims.
- Things to Know:
- Vientiane is a relatively small city, so getting around on foot or by taxi is easy
- The COPE Visitor Centre is a must-visit to understand the impact of war on Lao people
- Activities: Explore the night market and try some street food
Day 2: Vientiane
- Places to Go: Visit the Wat Si Saket temple, which houses hundreds of Buddha images
- Things to Know:
- The Wat Si Saket is a beautiful example of Lao architecture and art
- Be respectful when visiting temples by dressing modestly and removing shoes
- Activities: Take a stroll along the Mekong River and enjoy the sunset
Day 3: Vang Vieng
- Transportation: Take an overnight bus from Vientiane to Vang Vieng (approx. 4 hours)
- Places to Go: Explore the Tham Phu Kham cave system, which features stunning rock formations
- Things to Know:
- The caves offer a unique glimpse into Lao geology and history
- Respect local restrictions when visiting the caves
- Activities: Climb one of Vang Vieng’s many karst mountains for panoramic views
Day 4: Luang Prabang

Day 5: Luang Prabang

Day 6: Departure
- Transportation: Take a taxi or bus back to Luang Prabang Airport (approx. 1 hour) for your departure flight
