Six days gives you room for the Grand Canyon without wrecking the rest of the trip, provided you pick the correct rim. This build treats that decision as load-bearing, because most Vegas itineraries quietly get it wrong.

Day 1: Arrival and Exploring the Strip

  • Afternoon:
    • Town Square Las Vegas: an upscale outdoor shopping center, quieter and less touristy than anything on the Strip.
  • Evening: Dinner at:

Day 4: The High Roller Observation Wheel

    • The LINQ Promenade: open-air shops and people-watching.
  • Afternoon: Ride the:
    • High Roller Observation Wheel: 550 feet tall with strong Strip views. Check current pricing before buying; it fluctuates.
  • Evening: Catch a show:
    • Cirque du Soleil’s “O”: the aquatic production at Bellagio, still the benchmark.

Day 5: Grand Canyon Day Trip (optional, and pick your rim carefully)

  • Morning: If you’re doing the Grand Canyon as a day trip, go West Rim, not South Rim. West Rim is roughly 120-130 miles and 2-2.5 hours each way, the realistic single-day option, and includes the Skywalk on Hualapai land. South Rim is 275-280 miles and 4.5-5 hours one-way, a full-day-plus commitment that really wants an overnight, not a squeeze-it-in afternoon. A helicopter tour is the faster way to see either rim if the drive time doesn’t fit your schedule.
  • Afternoon: Back in town, Mandalay Bay Beach for real sand, a wave pool, and cabana rentals.
  • Evening: Dine at:
    • Estiatorio Milos: upscale Greek seafood with Strip views.

Day 6: Last Day in Las Vegas

  • Morning: Last-minute souvenir shopping or catching whatever got missed earlier in the week.
  • Afternoon: Checkout and departure. Budget extra time at Harry Reid for the garage-based rideshare pickup rather than a curbside grab.

Tips and Transportation

  • Getting Around: The Deuce bus covers the full Strip and downtown for $4 (two hours) or $8 (24-hour pass). Rideshare and taxis cover the rest, with taxis metered from designated stands.
  • Parking: No longer free across most of the Strip. Self-parking generally runs $15-25 for 24 hours, valet $40-50 a day, though several MGM properties still waive self-park fees for hotel guests.
  • Security: Keep an eye on belongings in crowded stretches, particularly the Strip and Fremont Street at night.
  • Weather: Hot summers (June-August regularly over 100°F, sometimes past 110°F), mild winters. Pack for both extremes depending on your dates.

Other Attractions and Tips

  • Skip any old listing for the Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at The Mirage: the Mirage closed and reopened as Hard Rock Las Vegas, and that attraction no longer exists.
  • Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay: sharks, rays, and a solid marine-life collection, still open and worth the ticket.
  • Free Attractions: Street performers, live music, and the Fremont Street canopy light shows cost nothing and deliver plenty.

One number worth memorizing before you book that Grand Canyon day: the West Rim’s roughly two-and-a-half-hour drive is what makes it a day trip at all. Add the South Rim’s extra two hours each way and you’ve turned a relaxing vacation day into a windshield marathon.
