3-Day Itinerary for Travelling in Tanzania
Day 1: Arrival in Dar es Salaam and Journey to Serengeti National Park
Morning
- Arrival in Dar es Salaam: Arrive at Julius Nyerere International Airport. Upon arrival, clear customs and immigration.
- Dar es Salaam City Tour (optional): Depending on your flight schedule, you might have enough time for a brief tour of the city.
Afternoon
- Fly to Serengeti National Park: Take a domestic flight from Dar es Salaam to Seronera Airstrip in Serengeti. This will take about an hour.
- Seronera Game Lodge: Arrive at Seronera, check-in and have lunch at the lodge.
- Serengeti National Park Afternoon Game Drive: In the late afternoon or early evening, go on a game drive within the national park.
Evening
- Dinner and Overnight at Seronera Game Lodge: Enjoy dinner and spend your first night in Tanzania.
Day 2: Exploring Serengeti
Morning
- Early Morning Game Drive: Start your day with an early morning game drive within the Serengeti National Park.
- Breakfast: Return to the lodge for breakfast and some rest time.
Afternoon
- Picnic Lunch: Arrange for a picnic lunch to be prepared by the lodge, or have it packed in a basket. This allows you to enjoy your meal while still experiencing the beauty of Serengeti.
- Afternoon Game Drive: Continue with another game drive, focusing on different areas of the park.
Evening
- Sundowner: As the sun begins to set, find a spot for sundowners (drinks at sunset). This is a great time to relax and observe the wildlife in their natural habitats.
- Dinner and Campfire: Return to the lodge for dinner. If possible, enjoy a campfire with fellow travelers and share stories about your experiences.
Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater
Morning
- Breakfast: Enjoy breakfast at Seronera Game Lodge.
- Drive to Ngorongoro Crater: Drive from Serengeti National Park to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (about an hour and a half).
- Crater Rim Walk or Visit the Crater Floor: Depending on your interests, decide whether to take a walk along the rim of the crater or go down into the crater itself. The latter requires a 4x4 vehicle for the steep descent.
Afternoon
- Lunch: Have lunch at a viewpoint within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
- More Exploration: If time allows, spend more time exploring the area and taking in its unique landscapes.
Evening
- Return to Serengeti or Fly Back to Dar es Salaam: Depending on your flight schedule for departure from Dar es Salaam the next day, you might need to return to Seronera Airstrip and then fly back to Dar es Salaam. Alternatively, if your flights allow it, you could spend another night at a camp within Ngorongoro.
