Uganda Travel Itinerary: 2 Days

Day 1: Murchison Falls National Park

Morning

  • 6:00 AM: Start your day with a delicious breakfast
  • 7:30 AM: Visit the Murchison Falls National Park for an early game drive. You might spot animals such as lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes.
  • 10:00 AM: Take a guided hike to the top of the Murchison Falls, which is a breathtaking experience.

Afternoon

  • 1:00 PM: Have lunch at your lodge or take a picnic in the park
  • 3:00 PM: Go on a boat cruise along the Nile River for a chance to see crocodiles and hippopotamuses. You may also see water birds like egrets, herons, and cormorants.
  • 5:00 PM: Return to your lodge for some relaxation time

Evening

  • 7:30 PM: Have dinner at your lodge or in the nearby town
  • 9:00 PM: Enjoy the evening by sitting around a campfire (if you’re camping), having a drink, and sharing stories about your day.

Day 2: Entebbe and Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary

Morning

  • 8:00 AM: Depart for Entebbe
  • 11:00 AM: Visit the Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a protected area that cares for orphaned chimpanzees. Learn about their conservation efforts and possibly see these amazing creatures up close.
  • 1:30 PM: Have lunch at a nearby restaurant

Afternoon

  • 3:00 PM: Visit the Kampala Botanical Gardens, which have an interesting history dating back to 1890. You can see various plants and trees in these gardens.
  • 5:30 PM: Return to your hotel or depart for your next destination

Visa Requirements

Uganda has a visa policy that is relatively easy for tourists, especially those from Commonwealth countries.

  • Visa Exemptions: Citizens of the United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and several other countries are exempted.
  • Electronic Visas (e-Visas): Most travelers can apply for an e-visa online. This process is simpler than applying for a traditional visa at an embassy or consulate.

Transportation

There are different options available depending on your budget and preferences:

  • Taxis: These are widely available in larger towns.
  • Buses: Local buses (known as “matatus”) are an affordable way to get around. However, they may not always be comfortable or punctual.
  • Private transfers and car rentals are also options for those who prefer more control over their travel schedule.
