Uruguay Travel Itinerary (7 days)
Day 1: Arrival in Montevideo
- Morning: Arrive at Carrasco International Airport (MVD).
- Taxi or Uber from the airport to your hotel.
- Check-in and rest after your long flight.
- Afternoon: Explore Old City (Ciudad Vieja), a historic neighborhood filled with colonial architecture, parks, and the famous Solís Theatre.
- Visit the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Cabildo (a former government building).
- Evening: Enjoy traditional Uruguayan cuisine at a local restaurant. Try some chivito (a sandwich) or parrilla (grilled meats).
Day 2: Montevideo Exploration
- Morning: Visit the Mercado Agrícola, where you can buy fresh produce and try some street food.
- Then head to Pocitos, a trendy neighborhood known for its upscale boutiques and restaurants.
- Afternoon: Relax at one of Montevideo’s beautiful beaches, such as Punta Ballena or Carrasco Beach.
- Alternatively, visit the famous Port Market (Mercado del Puerto), where you can shop for souvenirs and eat at one of the many food stalls.
Day 3: Colonia del Sacramento
- Day Trip: Take a bus from Montevideo to Colonia del Sacramento ( approx. 2 hours).
- Explore this charming colonial town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Afternoon: Wander through the narrow cobblestone streets and take in the sights of the old city, including the City Gate and the Plaza Mayor.
- Evening: Return to Montevideo.
Day 4: Punta del Este
- Day Trip: Take a bus or private transfer from Montevideo to Punta del Este (approx. 2.5 hours).
- Visit the famous Peninsula of Punta del Este, known for its luxury resorts and high-end boutiques.
- Afternoon: Enjoy some beach time at one of Punta del Este’s beautiful beaches, such as Mansa or Brava Beach.
- Evening: Return to Montevideo.
Day 5: Wine Country
- Day Trip: Take a bus from Montevideo to the wine country region (approx. 1 hour).
- Visit some of Uruguay’s famous wineries and vineyards, such as Bodega Garzón or Bodega Lavaque.
- Afternoon: Taste some of Uruguay’s excellent wines and enjoy lunch at one of the local wineries.
Day 6: Canelones
- Day Trip: Take a bus from Montevideo to Canelones (approx. 30 minutes).
- Visit the picturesque town of Canelones, known for its beautiful lake and surrounding hills.
- Afternoon: Explore the town’s historic center and visit some of the local shops and cafes.
Day 7: Departure
- Morning: Return to Carrasco International Airport (MVD) for your departure flight.
- Spend some time shopping for last-minute souvenirs or enjoying a farewell lunch at one of Montevideo’s many restaurants.
Visa Requirements:
- As a tourist, you may not need a visa to enter Uruguay. Check with the Uruguayan embassy or consulate in your country to confirm.
- If you’re planning to stay in Uruguay for an extended period or engage in activities such as work or study, you’ll need to apply for a visa.
Transportation:
