3-Day Itinerary for Traveling in Wallis and Futuna
Day 1: Arrival and Exploration of Île Wallis (Wallis Island)

- Places to Visit: Start your day by visiting the island’s central town, Hauti. Explore the local market where you can buy traditional handicrafts and taste some of the island’s delicacies.

- Snorkel or dive in the crystal-clear waters to spot an array of marine life, including sea turtles.
- Visit the Wallisian Cathedral, a beautiful church that serves as a testament to the island’s strong Catholic faith.
- If you’re interested in history, visit the museum which showcases the culture and way of life of the local people.
- Things to Know:
- The official language is French, but most locals also speak Wallisian (or iwal kapa) and Futunan.
- The island has a tropical marine climate with temperatures ranging from 22-30°C throughout the year.
- Transportation: You can use taxi services or rent cars to get around the island. Public transportation is limited, but you can also hire local guides for island tours.
Day 2: Exploration of Île Futuna
- Morning: Take a ferry from Wallis Island to Futuna Island.
- Places to Visit: Explore the island’s central town, Ono. Visit the cathedral and learn about its history as well as that of the local people.

- Hike to the top of the highest point on the island, Passe de Hoala, for stunning views of the surrounding area.
- Visit the local museum which showcases the way of life and culture of the island’s inhabitants.
- Explore the coastline where you can spot a variety of marine life including turtles and rays.
- Things to Know:
- The island has a similar climate to Wallis Island but is slightly cooler due to its higher altitude.
- As with Wallis, French and Futunan are widely spoken among locals.
- Transportation: There’s limited public transportation on the island. You can hire taxis or rent cars for easier movement.
Day 3: Cultural Experiences and Departure
- Morning: Engage in some cultural activities such as attending a traditional church service, participating in local handicrafts workshops, or simply enjoying the local cuisine.
- Afternoon: Spend your last afternoon on the island shopping for souvenirs at the local markets or relaxing at one of the island’s beaches.
- Evening: Depart from Hihifo Airport back to your destination.
