Romantic Getaways Lalibela
Water Activities in Lalibela
Lalibela, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Ethiopia, may not be the first place that comes to mind for water activities. However, there are still some opportunities to enjoy the water in this historic town.
Swimming
No water
However, if you’re looking for relaxation and rejuvenation, consider visiting one of Lalibela’s numerous natural rock pools or take a dip in a traditional Ethiopian bath house, known as a “hawaaj”. These can be found throughout the town and offer a unique experience.
Kayaking/ Canoeing
No water
Unfortunately, there are no lakes, rivers, or oceans nearby for kayaking or canoeing. The scenic Wadi Darbat valley, which is home to many of Lalibela’s rock-hewn churches, does have some shallow pools and streams that can be explored on foot.
Snorkeling/ Scuba Diving
No water
As with swimming and other aquatic activities, snorkeling and scuba diving are not feasible in Lalibela due to the lack of nearby water sources.
Fishing
