Romantic Getaways Maputo
Water Activities in Maputo
Maputo, the capital city of Mozambique, offers a range of exciting water activities for visitors.
Snorkeling and Scuba Diving
While there are no beaches or ocean access within the city limits, the nearby islands of Inhaca and Catuane offer excellent opportunities for snorkeling and scuba diving. Explore the coral reefs, marine life, and shipwrecks in these waters.
Getting There: Take a ferry from Maputo’s waterfront to Inhaca Island (about 1 hour journey). From there, take another boat to Catuane Island (another 30 minutes).
Kayaking and Paddleboarding
Paddle through the tranquil waters of the Maputo Bay, observing local wildlife like crocodiles, fish, and birds. Rent a kayak or paddleboard from one of the nearby resorts.
Tips: Early morning or late afternoon paddles offer the best viewing opportunities for wildlife spotting.
No Water
Maputo is located too far inland to have any direct access to water activities. The city’s terrain does not lend itself to lakes, rivers, or ocean access.
