Siem Reap Province may not be the first place that comes to mind when thinking of water activities, but it has a surprising amount to offer.

Tonle Sap Lake

Just a short drive from Siem Reap town, Tonle Sap Lake is a massive freshwater lake that’s home to floating villages and stunning sunsets. Take a boat tour (no motorboats are allowed) to see the traditional fishing communities and spot some of the 100+ species of birds that call the lake home.

Tips

• Be respectful of the local fishermen and their way of life.
• Don’t forget your sunscreen and hat for a day on the water!
• If you’re interested in visiting the floating villages, consider taking a tour with an experienced guide who can show you around.
