Vientiane, the capital city of Laos, may not be the first place that comes to mind when thinking about water activities. However, despite being landlocked, there are some great options for you to enjoy the water.

Mekong River

While not directly accessible from the city center, the Mekong River offers a chance to see traditional Lao fishing villages and rural life. You can take a ferry or drive to the nearby town of Houayxay, about an hour outside Vientiane, for a boat trip.
