The Monastery and Site of the Escurial, Madrid, is UNESCO’s official name for the complex most people just call El Escorial, and the practical details matter more than the history on your first visit: EUR14 to get in, closed Mondays, no ticket-office walk-up sales, and from 17 February 2026 you enter through the West Facade rather than the traditional door most older write-ups still describe.
