Ask around for what to do “in Toronto” for a week and someone will hand you a CN Tower ticket and a museum pass, which covers about three days and wastes the other four. The real trick of southern Ontario is that Toronto sits at the center of it: two hours from a wine region, two hours from a Shakespeare festival that’s been running since 1953, three hours from a wilderness where moose still lick the highway shoulder for road salt every spring.
